Commit to Your Goals to Achieve Success

Whether it's a business goal, a personal goal or a personal relationship, commitment can mean the difference between success and failure. Commitment is defined as the act of binding yourself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action. Commitment is the catalyst for moving forward. Without it we will never reach our designated goal(s).

This is not the type of commitment when everything is going great, but rather the kind that prevails even when everything and everyone is contrary to what you pledged to do. If you can persevere no matter what then you are truly committed and know that true commitment breeds success.

True commitment does not accept excuses nor does it provide any. Demonstrating commitment is hard work; you most have determination and persistence.

When you are dedicated to succeed you go after those things that are consistent with your passion. For instance, if you desire to be a manager in the IT field, you go after things that help you accomplish this task. You may be short on time because of other things in life that are going on but you make it happen regardless. If you wish to be the next food network TV star or you don't have money for college, you don't let this stop you, you make it happen. Anything worth having in this life does not come cheap; there is a price to pay for success. There may be some long days and some sleepless nights but in the end it will all be worth it.

True commitment stands the test of time. No matter how long it takes, be determined to see your dream come to fruition. Be committed in your relationships, your business, and what you are involved in.

Don't allow the three most prevalent barriers of success to stop you. These are fear, lack of knowledge and negative people. Most of us have heard these before and fallen prey to them but we must set our goals, put our mind to it and just do it. If you feel you need an accountability partner get a mentor. This person should be able challenge you and provide support when you need it. Because this is crucial to your success choose this person wisely. You need someone who is strong enough to "get in your face" when necessary, yet gentle enough to motivate you forward at the same time.

Success breeds success, so choose a mentor that you can say is successful in your eyes. Remember success can be something different from person to person.

Know your limitations, understand fully that you become what you envision, and most importantly believe in yourself. Success is waiting for you!
