Consistent, Credible and Professional

Jeff Tiss, Land America Lawyers Title, CA
If you wanted to talk to someone who knows a little something about marketing in this field, you might give Jeff Tiss a call. He has been in the title insurance industry for 27 years - and with the same company, no less: Land America Lawyers Title at its Southern California offices in Orange County. After all these years, he says he still learns something new every day, but leans on a few basic principles when developing his marketing approach.

Courting clients in this market is a long-term proposition: there are no quick sells. Tiss gained his primary clients - realtors and lenders - through consistent repetition of sales calls in his field, which extends from Laguna Beach to San Clemente. He summarizes his technique: "See the people, see the people, see the people." He makes it his daily priority to see as many people as he can, as many days as he can, in an effort to consistently be in front of his existing and prospective clients.

In his search for effective marketing tools to match this approach, he seized upon Economic Focus several years ago, and continues to use it every week. While he testifies that there are numerous marketing tools available, he prefers the direct approach of Economic Focus that targets the most current, relevant data his clients can use every week. Meeting his desire to provide consistent support, Tiss loves that he can always rely on the report being e-mailed every week. He calls Economic Focus the most "professional, consistent, and credible" marketing tool he has found, and uses it in two formats.

First, he attaches his personal information to hard copies he prints out and delivers them to current clients, as well as to prospectives who are harder to make physical contact with. He cites examples of companies that do not allow you past the front desk, and says that leaving a copy of the Economic Focus with his business information attached allows him to be in front of his client in an intelligent, professional manner, without actually stepping foot inside his office.

Tiss also sends out e-mail versions to certain clients he knows can benefit from the information every week. In fact, he has had clients call to tell him they look forward to their weekly information and quickly read the update, looking for applicable information they can take to their clients.

Tiss also believes a marketing tool such as Economic Focus is exactly the information people reach for when a steady market begins to change. He says it is the "nuts and bolts that can help any professional."

And with the future of the economy an ever-unknown and changing entity, it's good to be able to provide consistency with professional, credible content to better service the needs of your clients. That's what 27 years have taught Tiss, and he's decided to stick with what works.
