Success Story - Richard Foster

Richard FosterRichard Foster, Business Development Manager of Charter Funding in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida always wanted to be in sales. "As a kid, I remember the Fuller Brush Man coming to our house to present his wares, and I was hooked" states Foster.

Personal influences include his parents, his wife Peggy, and time spent in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. "Peggy, my wife of 36 years, has been a huge influence and a pillar of strength," he says. His father always taught him that no matter what he did in life to do it with passion, not just for the money.

Richard lists his guiding principles, in order of importance, as; faith, family and friends, his personal well being and his career. A self described former workaholic, he decided to change when his wife set an ultimatum on striking a balance between work and home.

The combined total of 22 years in mortgage banking includes working as a loan officer, branch manager and regional manager. He is always pleasantly surprised to hear out of the blue from people who worked with him over the years. "I am honored to hear that I had a positive influence on them," he concludes.

He recently moved to Florida from Michigan to join Charter Funding and work with a former business associate, Joe Castro. "I came here because of Joe," Foster states.
"In the past nine years the company has experienced a growth of more than 800% because of the way it conducts business. I have never worked for a better company,"
he concludes.

His professional motto is the Golden Rule and "doing the right thing" guides his daily activities. The person who most influenced him professionally? "Joe Castro, he's brilliant, honest and caring. He has a passion for people, looking beyond the dollars to do all he can to help the client," he replies.

He views the Focus Publications products and services as valuable tools. "My satisfaction has as much to do with CEO Howard Voyles, as it does with the product. He is a patient teacher, with a great background that he applies to the program. The tools are easy, uncomplicated and effective. I use them extensively to introduce loan officers to the program and use them as a tool to recruit loan officers," he says.
