Weekends have always been a special time for Barbara Baker, a Sales Representative at Commerce Title Company in San Antonio, TX. “My Dad was an architect and every weekend he would take me with him to look at homes,” she states. “We started doing this when I was five. It got me started on my lifelong love of homes and architecture and looking at real estate magazines.”
These days, she looks forward to weekends at the ranch with her husband and frequent visits from her grandson. “We have all sorts of animals there and he just loves it,” says Barbara.
The San Antonio native worked as a real estate agent before joining Commerce Title in 2005. When asked about her influences at work, she responds that there are two that immediately come to mind.
“Beth Rogers, who is Vice President of Sales & Marketing, helped to instill a drive in me. She provides the tools I need to take my career a step further.” And who is the second one? “It’s Wayne Norton, President, Commerce Title Company-Agency Operations,” she replies. “The things that he has done to elevate the work experience at Commerce make folks want to work here and stay here.”
Barbara uses Focus Publications’ Week in Review and the Hot Sheets to establish, build and maintain relationships with her prospects, clients and business network.
“I am recognized throughout the city, at any type of event. Folks come up to me and call me by name, because they recognize me from my personalized emails. I can’t always stay in front of clients physically, so Focus helps me to keep in touch,” she continues.
Is there anything else? “It’s extremely user friendly,” Barbara responds. “It’s easy to get into, and I like the automated delivery feature. As soon as I get back to the office after meeting someone, I send them an email asking if they would like to receive any of the publications. The response is almost always positive. I get emails back saying ‘thanks for thinking of me’,” she concludes.
